House & Garden
Fleury is a cozy and comfortable house, located on the quiet edge of the
beautiful old village of Saint Gengoux le National in the south of
The living area covers 140 m2, excluding the garage.
The house itself - unlike most of the surrounding houses - is not so
old. However, in the garage one can see vestiges of the
medieval walls that surrounded the village many centuries ago.
A couple of the towers of the former village fortifications can still
be seen close to the house.
Along the old walls is an underground river which, in previous
centuries, provided the villagers with water which was
pumped up at a lower located square near to the house. Evidence of the
river is seen on the granite wall in the garage which
suffers from rising damp in the winter months.
But no need to worry - this wall is not directly adjacent to the house.
The entire house is comfortable and dry - all the year round.

Garden and terraces
The lounge has double doors that open to the veranda.
Beside the dining area in the lounge and the open terraces in the
garden, one can dine comfortably on the veranda - with a glass
of burgundy wine, of course. From the veranda one has a view of the red
tiled roofs of the lower lying houses, and, beyond the
neighbour's home, a view of the hills surrounding the village. Even
when it is very warm outside, the veranda is often very pleasant.
The garden itself is about 120 sq. meters and has three stone terraces.
There is always an agreeable place to be found in the sun or shade. The
garden with its terraces is five steps lower than the house.
The view from the rear garden terrace is most charming. Overlooking the
red tiled roofs of the houses one sees the two towers of
the medieval church nearby, in the centre of Saint Gengoux.
There is a courtyard behind the house and graveled space in front.
The outside areas offer opportunities for sunbathing, dining, reading, enjoying each other's company or just being alone.
Although there are neighbouring houses (somewhat lower) it is usually quite restful and quiet outside.
In short: a place for your holiday enjoyment.
There is ample garden furniture.
Note: Although the garden has a large degree of privacy, it is obviously located on the edge of a village.
In respect to the villagers, we ask our guests to refrain from nude recreation. We hope for your understanding for this request.
